Agriturismo Santa Cristina is situated at 5 km from the village of Magliano Sabina, in the heart of Sabina Region, fifty kilometres north-east of Rome.
The hilltop town of Magliano Sabina has Roman roots (Fundus Malianus) and was founded by an aristocratic Roman family called Manlia. Only medieval glory followed due to the town's diocesal connection to the still-intact Abbey at Farfa and hence papal power and patronage.
In 1495, the Borgia Pope Alexander IV recognised the town. The town's museum features lots of etruscan and Roman remains whilst a stroll through the narrow and windy streets gives you an idea of the medieval town lay-out.
Of particular note is the 15th century cathedral, rebuilt in the 18th century, the Bishop's Palace, the town hall and the 8th century Santa Maria delle Grazie which conserves a Roman crypt with 15th century frescoes.
The area also offers some excellent rambling opportunties around Magliano and at nearby Santa Maria di Uliano, noted for its Franciscan pilgrim routes.
